Virginia’s goal as a counselor is to form a trusting alliance while working collaboratively with clients to help promote a better quality of life. She believes everyone has the internal tools to identify, cope, and overcome life obstacles, while maintaining a sense of purpose and hope. She helps individuals and couples who are experiencing depression, anxiety, issues with transitions, and relational issues. Additionally, she works with individuals experiencing reproductive and fertility struggles. She can assist in both implication counseling (helping clients identify how their identity is impacted by reproductive life events), decision-making counseling (assisting in wading through the process of whether or not to try specific assisted reproductive technology options), as well as provide emotional and psychological support counseling at any stage of their reproductive and fertility journey.
Virginia has worked with adults and children in a variety of settings including an inpatient adult psychiatric unit, college counseling center for young adults, and with an independent neuropsychological assessment center for individuals of all ages and abilities. She has experience counseling in group, individual, couples, and crisis settings. In addition, she has a post-graduate education in fertility counseling and is a Doctoral Candidate at Springfield College in the Counseling Psychology Program.
Virginia has a Master’s of Education in Counseling Psychology and is continuing her education to the doctorate level to increase her understanding of the complexities of human nature and strengthen her skills in treating a multitude of issues. Her therapeutic orientation is eclectic, allowing her to work collaboratively with clients with a variety of modalities such as CBT, ACT, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Humanistic therapies.
