I.
Neon signs
pass as moonlight
here, a promise:
the world is still beautiful.

II.
I remember the night
I tried to replace
my ribcage
with yours,
trying to find
beautiful
in my time-
bomb body.

III.
They’re tearing
down the old school,
there’s nothing
beautiful
about ghosts.

IV.
All poetry
talks about
is ghosts.

V.
“Do you think scars are beautiful?”

VI.
Yes.
My whole body
is a scar-temple,
ready to
be sacrificed
to the person
I will become.

VII.
I would rip off
my own shadow
and paint it
on my face
just to make
it look like
I woke up next to you
and didn’t have
time to shave,
if you’ll just
call me handsome again.
